Doug Hammer - Director of Instruction
Doug Hammer is a PGA professional and has experience with golfers of all levels from all over the world. His client list consists of beginners to top ranked junior golfers and professional players. His philosophy is simple—there is no perfect swing for everyone. Doug is a student of the game and studies every technique to be able to help every golfer, no matter what they may be working on or learning.

In addition to helping grow the game of golf through teaching, Doug is also an authorized Callaway Golf performance club fitter. It is important to have equipment that fits your game—if you are playing equipment that is not correct for you, you may be able to improve your scores by improving the clubs you play. Doug is in charge of the Callaway Performance Center at Troon North, one of only seven in the country, and can assist in club fitting and equipment suggestions for any golfer.

Doug Hammer is a Class A member of the Southwest Section of the PGA of America. Since 1999, Doug has worked for Troon Golf in various capacities and has been a PGA member since 2001. Originally from a small community in southeast Iowa, Doug came to Arizona in 1997 to enter the golf business and attend the San Diego Golf Academy. Doug began with Troon Golf at The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa as an assistant golf professional. In 2001, he became the head golf professional at The Westin Mission Hills Resort in Rancho Mirage, CA and in 2002, the Director of Instruction at Eagle Ridge Resort and Spa in Galena, IL. For the past four years, Doug has been the Director of Instruction at Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, AZ. He also has international experience working as Director of Instruction for the David Duval Golf Academy in Miyazaki, Japan, and the Banyan Tree Club and Spa in Seoul, South Korea.

Ryan Mahoney - Assistant Golf Professional
Ryan has worked at Troon North Golf Club for the past six years. During his tenure he has had the opportunity to teach alongside such renowned teachers as Tim Mahoney, Steve Dahlby, and Doug Hammer. While at Troon North Ryan has provided instruction to hundreds of guest from all around world and has also taught dozens of clinics to various golfers of all abilities. Ryan’s philosophy is simple and easy to comprehend, he does not teach one method but emphasizes on creating a swing that will provide consistency. Ryan feels that focusing on progressive learning and having fun is the key to success in golf. Ryan Graduated from Eckerd College in Saint Petersburg, Florida with a Bachelor Degree in Business Management and in Finance.

Randy Blair
- Assistant Golf Professional

Randy is a PGA professional that has been at Troon North for four years. He is a graduate of the New Mexico State PGM program and has taught golfers of all levels and abilities throughout his time at Troon North. He has taught under Top 100 teachers Tom Velarde and Steve Dahlby.

Randy’s philosophy is to teach each student how to play the game as well as swing a golf club. He will begin with solid fundamentals and then cater the students swing to them so that you can move forward and understand what is going on and why.

Jeff Allen - Assistant Golf Professional Jeff has been a PGA Member since July 2006 and has 7 Years of teaching experience. Jeff learned by viewing lessons given by Rick Grayson, Top 100 teacher; Rolly Hurst "PGA Teaching Professional"; and Sam Reynolds, PGA Lifetime member and former PGA Tour Player. Jeff has been playing golf for 25 years, 3 of which were collegiate golf. He is a 2-time District Match Play Champion.
 
Jeff's philosophy is that golf is a game that can be taylored to all skill levels.  There is no one perfect swing or way of teaching. He makes it a point to get to know my students and their style of thinking, along with their physical abilities and limitations before putting together a game plan for a students long-term improvement schedule.  Jeff enjoys teaching anyone who is willing to put in the time and effort.

Scott VanEngelen - Assistant Golf Professional Scott VanEngelen is a PGA Apprentice and graduate of the University of Idaho Professional Golf Management Program. He spent two years as an assistant golf professional at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Oregon where he organized corporate outings and directed junior clinics for the surrounding communities. Scott came to Troon North in 2006 where he has expanded his teaching experience to include all levels of players.

Scott believes that it is his job to determine a fundamentally sound approach tailored for each player that produces the greatest results. Scott creates a relaxed environment and engages the player through the use of exciting drills and activities.
