Understanding the U.S. Supreme Court
Professor Paul Bender will lead discussions of four recent decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court — one case at each session. Copies of the decisions will be distributed in advance so that discussion of the reasoning, legal background, logic, policy, etc., of each case will be possible.
The objective will be to help attendees understand the nature of Supreme Court decisions, give them a basis for critical thinking about the court, and provide them with an idea of the jurisprudence of the court as a whole and as individual voting blocs within the court (i.e. liberal, conservative and "swing" Justices).
Multi-week course every Thursday from 7:00pm - 9:00pm
